Set up your printer

The CurryIQ Printer Helper is a small free program that lets CurryIQ print your bills and kitchen tickets. It takes about five minutes.

Three steps

Step 1: Download

Do this on the computer your printer is connected to.

⬇ Download Printer Helper

For Windows computers · about 23 MB · free

Step 2: Run it

  1. Open the file you just downloaded.
  2. If Windows says “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway. This is normal for a new program.
  3. Leave the “Printer IP address” box empty and click Next.
  4. Click Install, then Finish.
  5. Close Chrome completely and open it again. Chrome only notices the helper after a full restart.
Closing the window may not be enough — Chrome can keep running in the corner of the screen, near the clock. If you see the Chrome icon there (click the small ^ arrow if you don’t), right-click it and choose Exit. Then open Chrome and come back to this page.

You only do this once. The helper starts by itself every time the computer turns on.

Step 3: Check it works

Press the button below on the same computer.

If Chrome asks to let curryiq.com use apps on this device, click Allow.

Keep this computer on while the restaurant is open

If it is switched off or asleep, nothing prints — not even orders taken on phones or tablets. To stop it sleeping: Windows Settings → System → Power → set Sleep to Never.

If something isn’t working

The check says the helper can't be found
  1. Make sure you are on the computer the printer is connected to.
  2. Restart the computer. The helper starts by itself. Wait two minutes, then press the check button again.
  3. Still not found? Do steps 1 and 2 again. Installing again is safe and keeps your settings.
The check says another program is in the way

The helper talks to CurryIQ through a fixed connection on this computer. Sometimes another program takes it first.

  1. Restart the computer, then press the check button again.
  2. If it happens again, call us. If someone is helping you, tell them: port 9911 is in use.
The check says it's working, but nothing prints
  1. Is the printer switched on? Look for a light on the front.
  2. Is there paper in it, and is the lid shut properly?
  3. Push both ends of the printer’s cable in firmly.
  4. Switch the printer off, wait ten seconds, and switch it on again.
It worked yesterday, but not today

Go down this list, starting at the top.

  1. The printer got a new address. If your printer is plugged into your internet box, it can come back on a different address after a power cut or a restart. In CurryIQ, open Settings → Printer and press Find my printer.
If this keeps happening, ask whoever looks after your internet to give the printer a fixed address on the router — then it can’t move.
  2. The printer was switched off overnight. Switch it on.
  3. The computer was restarted and is still starting up. Wait two minutes.
  4. Close Chrome completely and open it again. Chrome sometimes updates itself overnight and needs a full restart.
Closing the window may not be enough — Chrome can keep running in the corner of the screen, near the clock. If you see the Chrome icon there (click the small ^ arrow if you don’t), right-click it and choose Exit. Then open Chrome, come back to this page and press the check button — if Chrome asks, click Allow.
